Clwb Padlo Dysynni Paddling Club, c/o Club Secretary Theresa Francis - 01341 251 065 - theresa.j.francis@btinternet.com : We are based in the Tywyn area of Gwynedd and operate throughout the year. From April until the end of October we paddle on local rivers and estuaries and coastal waters. The rest of the year we meet at the local swimming pool. We meet on a Wednesday from 6pm until 9pm. We have fortnightly outings and monthly weekend paddles throughout the Summer – we have taken the club to Anglesey, Poppit Sands and South Wales as well as more local locations. We mainly use kayaks but have canoe sessions, and are linked to the local Outdoor Centres where we arrange visits and instruction on sea kayaks. The club is open to all ages from 9 years and many of the non-paddling parents are involved in the club, arranging lifts, food, hot drinks and BBQs. We are in the process of linking with the local Secondary School and have various forthcoming projects, including links with the canoe lifeguards, and linking with the local health providers to set up a weekday paddle for those wishing to take gentle exercise. We practice in the pool and meet in the bar afterwards to chat about all things kayaking. When in the pool we coach for free and will try to develop people into better paddlers with goals like the star awards and hopefully moving onto coaching.
We also arrange to get out at least once a month - hopefully more. When we go out we usually have at least 2 experienced paddlers and we can supply boats - buoyancy aids - spray decks. We do not charge for the use of our kit or our time.
We paddle on white water, travel on rivers, paddle at sea (surfing waves or touring in a sea kayak), paddle in open canoes and on lakes. We love messing about on the water!
